Default Problem with monking for FoW

So I shook off the cobwebs from my monk and thought it would be fun to go FoW with her. But when I go to ping my build in a FoW clear group I get kicked.. An no one tells me why. I don't like to bond so I run a healing build, can someone tell me what the newer monks use to heal in FoW? Cause the people in ToA sure wont help..

I know I can just form my own party, or do it with guildies, but I'm curious as to what the new monks use. I did a run with some guildies using a Prot-heal build in conjunction with a Rit healer and it worked great.

Basically.
If this build gets you kicked, then whoever kicked you was a clueless retard and you're better off in another group.

Actually, this isn't what 'newer' monks run. A new monk would probably run some crap build with Healing Breeze and no prot skills.
More like, ^^^ that build is what a decent monk would run.

Post your bar first. If it has Mending then we'll have our answer as to whether the group leader was an idiot or not. >____>

EDIT: Also yeah Alex's bar is a pretty standard WoH hybrid. I usually run SoA instead of Cure Hex in most areas but that's just personal preference really.

Also, if you REALLY want that 1s cast LoD, run Mindbender. Holy Haste is FAIL. F-A-I-L. FAIL. No RoF, PS, SB, SoA, Aegis, Guardian? You mention Kiss and Dismiss, but Holy Haste PREVENTS you from using the stuff that fuels those two skills anyway.

Yep. That build will do fine just about anywhere.
I like infuse, so I don't have RoF on my bar, but as stated, personal preference

Or just run Holy Haste + LoD + any non-enchantment support skills (Dwayna's Heal is very useful, Dismiss Condition, Cure/Remove Hex). FoW is very easy to monk, and if you will fail, it will just be the fault of overaggroing... Or just you fail at monking.

in FoW i tend to go with a hybrid of WoH, Guardian, PS, RoF, Dismiss Condition, Cure Hex, GoLE and the PvE Skill "Im Unstopable"

Basic bar with the pve only skill from norn title allows me to not be snared via crippled or knocked down (abbysals). Also, this skill lasts longer then Balance stance (which i use to take till i got gwen).

I think if used correctly, this bar will outpreform anything thrown at you in FoW.

I run just about that exact bar but I use ZB instead and Remove Hex. FoW is the one place hex removal is needed due to silly wars and eles still going at it with SS on em in the middle of the group (had a guy sit and wand one time while he had SS on him).

Also a lotta groups run a bonder something I will never do again (also there a waste there anyways). If you ever get in a bonder group leave just leave. Two things are gonna happen your gonna get gung hoe people and there gonna over extend you, or the bonder will get bored and leave.

Alex's bar is pretty solid, but for FoW I would drop the Dismiss Condition for a second hex removal.

Ok guess I just had bad luck with PUGs. I have been using WoH on my monk since I first made her, and the buff to it works great now. I was running pretty much the exact build but had remove hex instead of cure hex, and didn't have aegis or GoLE.

Later that evening I used the Zealous Benediction build from wiki and it worked good. Is it looked down on compared to the WoH build?

Yes. for several reasons.

Most people I know that monk, think of ZB as a pvp skill. (Like, TA/RA/AB) other then that, ZB is pretty much worthless.

For just half the energy (I say half because you never know if you're target is going to have a little heal or not) you can have a much larger heal, and then some more red bars go up (dwaynas.)

ehhhh that's all I can think of atm.

Hope I didn't just make a fool out of myself.
Edit: looking down, Racthoh just got what I missed, but was going to say.. rebirth and Sup. runes. Course, I don't really like SoA...

ZB is only really good as the only monk.
Rebirth on a monk is bad.
Superior runes on a monk isn't necessary.
Shield of Absorption is too good to pass up in PvE.

ZB is very strong as a sole monk in a 4-man party. Indeed, in RA and TA, I like it because I keep strong healing, and can eschew Healing Prayers entirely for defensive stuff from Tactics or Shadow Arts.

However, it kinda loses it's edge when you add a 2nd monk to the team - oft times, the other monk will also heal your target and you won't get the bonus off ZB. WoH is still a really strong heal even over 50%, and didn't just eat 10 energy.

And the WoH guy gets to pack Dwayna's Kiss. With the usual eles and bonders and the hexes flying around in FoW, it's really easy to get 200+ hp heals from that thing.
And... for FoW, you really want that Aegis on a WoH hybrid. The biggest, nastiest things are the Abyssals, as well as being mobbed by Shadow Rangers and Skeletal Berserkers. Aegis owns their souls.

I read a guide about going in a FoW party and it said it is best to have 3 Monks the guide said to be one to be bonder if you went with mostly healing healers boon with heal party.ZB is more a pure protect build like Alex said.

I don't PuG FoW, but when my guild/alliance does FoW, we run it with two monks. Neither of them is a bonder, both are hybrids, usually with WoH. We also have extra hex removal on midline eles and necros.

When I monk, I run a build very similiar to the one Stormlord Alex posted above. Nom nom Aegis.

Healer's Boon healer.

Tbh, I really don't see the point in it for FoW. There's not enough dispersed-AoE type damage or mass party-wide degen that needs to be mopped up by the uber-Heal Party offered by HB; and in truth - the uber-Heal Party is the only worthwhile thing you get from HB (at the expense of a lot of free slots)

I'd much rather have them slots used on Aegis and other small prots to deal with the real threat of FoW - physicals. Getting swarmed by spiders/berserkers/abyssals causes wipes in FoW, Guardian/Aegis/SoA > HB-HP, in truth.

If you have a bonder, you don't really need a hybrid build. Kiss is a given, as there are a lot of hexes, and if using a Bonder, the enchants fuel it too. Protective Spirit and Aegis would be the only skills I'd use if taking a Bonder, and PS you won't need if the Bonder knows his job. Rest would be healing, and no enchants from Healing Prayers except maybe Seed. The hybrid build would be nice for a group with no Bonder though.
